As the oldest daughter of an Artist, art has always been a part of my life.
My mind never rests, I tend to think about making things on a constant basis. I love paper, canvas and incorporating vintage items into my work.
I teach workshops bi-monthly in my home studio in Fremont, CA and I enjoy writing and submitting articles to Stampington for publication. I've had published articles in Somerset Memories, Altered Couture and Somerset Life.
I very much enjoy being a wife and mother of 3 small children and I've worked full time as a Controller for the past 17 years.
With her wonderful artistic style, Sylvia brings her charming art to Tinsel and Treasures.
Sylvia Anderson remembers her early childhood days as ones being filled with drawing, painting and creating make believe places filled with interesting characters. This was to be the foundation for her life as an artist.
Join Artist Dede Warren in one of four Make and Takes created exclusively for the Third Annual Tinsel and Treasures Folk Art show. Pull up an open chair, select the projects you'd like to make, and let your creativity unfold. Everything you need to complete the projects will be on hand. They are perfect for all skill levels, and children 12 and older are welcome to join in the fun. Kits are available for purchase, and with a few basics items from home, you can complete these with the instructions included. Shop during the first hour of the show, and then stay and enjoy the energy of making art for the rest of the day! You can come away with four different projects made by you, as well as one of a kind works from our artists.

Meet the multi talented Arbutus Hunter!
Arbutus Hunter
Arbutus Hunter creates holiday and seasonal collectible folk art. She is especially known for her Halloween pieces.Arbutus grew up in Santa Cruz, California. After high school, she attended Otis-Parson School of Art in Los Angeles for a year. As a young adult with an adventurous spirit she lived in Alaska for many years and sometimes wintered in Hawaii.
Today Arbutus creates from her studio/home on quiet wooded acreage in northwest Nevada where she lives with her husband of ten years, their dog, rabbit and bird.
Ceal is back for a second year and we are so pleased to have her.
Ceal Bialobrzeski of ElementLux
The mix of past and present graphic design fascinates Ceal. Her
jewelry references vintage, romantic, or scientific images in new
settings of glass and metal. Words and letter forms often add another
layer of intrigue. These tiny "stories-under-glass" provide the wearer
with a medium for one-of-a-kind personal expression.
Ceal enjoyed many years as a gift ware designer. You may recognize her line of very popular collectible "Serenity Angels" from Seasons of Cannon Falls. She relocated to the West Coast to be with her guy and has since fallen in love with San Francisco too. The artistic community she found here has been very welcoming and energizing. She is very grateful for all the wonderful and creative souls she's met, including these Tinsel and Treasures friends.
Virginia is a great addition to our show this year. She will be joining us from Southern California!
Virgina Lewis
Virginia grew up on the shores of the Delaware Bay in a small fishing town. She loved playing make believe, loved paper dolls and her favorite medium was a box of crayons. She was able to roam freely on the beach and on her grandparents farm where there were lots of animals and wildfires.
Virginia now enjoys sculpting with paper clay, hand made papers and antique papers. Most of her pieces are crows and owls dressed in vintage doll hats and clothes. She tries to give each piece it's own unique personality. Her current works are inspired by her grandchildren who give her ideas for her "works of whimsy".
Virginia is now retired and spends most of her time between both coasts with her seven granddaughters and now two grandsons. They range in age from twenty years to three weeks. She is known as "Ginny" or "Gin Gin" to all of them.
She has taught painting and has owned folk art shops on the East Coast with her daughter and where her folk art was sold. She had great fun creating one of a kind pieces from salvaged pieces.Annual Folk Art Show in September, in Northern California
